French Fries

Brushed with just a little Rape Seed Oil and baked in the oven - I can't see how bad these fries can possibly be for you; after all, they're not even fried!! These (healthy ish) chips are absolutely delicious with some roasted chicken and a dollop of good mustard. They'd love a steak too...


  • Potatoes, scrubbed
  • Rape Seed Oil
  • Maldon Salt

The knack of a good French Fry is good cutting!  You want your Fries very slim and very neat – and it would be a fib to suggest that these lovely looking Chips in the picture are mine… Luckily my husband is a dab hand with a knife – but I reckon if I practised more often, I’d get there in the end…

Once (carefully) cut – lay the Chips out with a bit of space around each one (which can mean having to use a couple of baking sheets lined with greaseproof paper)

Brush each French Fry with a tiny bit of Rape Seed Oil – you really don’t need much

Sprinkle with a little Maldon Salt and cook the Fries in the oven for 20 – 30 minutes or until golden and crunchy.  Serve immediately with ketchup or homemade mayonnaise!
