Tomato, Chive and Red Onion Salad

Tomatoes are the best side dish ever... they're super quick and easy to prepare, and if you're trying to stay healthy then they're a brilliant side that you can literally serve with (almost) anything. This particular salad is sweet with a dash of Balsamic; so it's the perfect friend to pastas, to anything with beans and to pizzas. If you grow your own tomatoes and / or chives, then you'll love this simple combination even more.


  • Tomatoes
  • Red Onions
  • Chives
  • Balsamic
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Slice some Red Onion

Wash and halve the Cherry Tomatoes

Wash and chop lots of fresh Chives

Lay the Tomatoes out on a serving dish…

Cover them in sliced Red Onions and chopped Chives

Sprinkle a few dashes of Balsamic over the salad, and maybe a little drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.  A crunch of Maldon Salt and Black Pepper wouldn’t go amiss; but is by no means compulsory…

This salad is good served with flatbread or pitta, and some beans
