Homemade Hummus

This healthy hummus is really easy to prepare, and tastes significantly nicer than shop bought stuff... It is very nutritious; makes a great packed lunch with some flatbread, and a decadent supper with lots of other mezze like chargrilled red peppers, roasted beetroot or a crisp green salad with cucumber.


  • 1 Tin Chickpeas
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 or 2 Large Cloves Garlic
  • 3 or 4 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp Tahini
  • Paprika (to serve)

Drain the tinned Chick Peas and reserve the liquid in the tin…

Whizz the Chick Peas up in a food processor – with the Garlic and 1 tbsp Olive Oil.  Whizz for a few minutes

Now add a couple of tablespoons of Tahini, and the juice of one Lemon; also a couple of tablespoons of the Chick Pea liquid

Whizz again – and taste… add some Salt & Pepper

Serve in a bowl, sprinkled with some Paprika and drizzled with the remaining Olive Oil

Flatbread are really good with this – but Hummus is also good served with Lamb Chops or some Salad
