Fried Red Gurnard

Red Gurnard are very easy to buy from local fishmongers on the East Coast - and are apparently becoming very 'a la mode' because Rick Stein has been raving about them (this amused our fishmonger no end). Gurnard fillets are as cheap as chips - and very good with chips too.


  • Red Gurnard fillets
  • Plain Flour
  • Salt & Pepper

Lightly dust the Red Gurnard fillets in seasoned Plain Flour, and fry them in a very hot pan for a couple of minutes on each side

TO SERVE – this is particularly delicious with a ladle of Tomato & Veg Broth
