Cauliflower & Broccoli Tapas

I always loved cauliflower - but my husband didn't. In fact, his general mistrust of cauliflower kind of put me off cooking it for a while (which is practically criminal given how healthy it is for you - cauliflower is super high in dietary fibre and Vitamin C, and is so healthy it's even meant to be good at slowing cancer growth?!). Since starting this cholesterol-lowering malarkey, we've eaten tons of cauliflower, and have loved it; even my husband has come round to how good it tastes when cooked properly (not just boiled and served on the side in a beige fashion)... This is a great recipe for a tapas-style dish that uses cauliflower and broccoli, which is just as nutritious and tasty, and makes a great cauliflower-partner.

Ingredients

  • Cauliflower
  • Broccoli
  • Smoked Paprika
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Lemon or Lime

Wash the Cauliflower and Broccoli, and carefully but both into similar size chunks

Crush 2 Cloves Garlic

Heat a frying pan with a little Olive Oil

Fry the Cauliflower (and a crunch of Salt) over a medium heat for 3 – 5 mins – leaving for enough time to char slightly

Add the Broccoli and give both another few minutes – adding 1 teaspoon of Smoked Paprika and the crushed Garlic

Ultimately you’re after vegetables with a good amount of bite left… The Garlic should be a little cooked but not burnt!

Squeeze the juice of half a Lemon or Lime over the Cauliflower and Broccoli

Taste and season with Salt and Pepper – also more Lemon or Lime if you think it needs it

Serve hot or warm with other tapas style dishes – or as a side to grilled meat or fish
